Repubbliche Marinare Italiane - Amalfi celebrates the city that transformed the Mediterranean into a crossroads of commerce, culture and discovery. The earliest of Italy’s great Maritime Republics, Amalfi became a bridge between East and West, connecting distant ports and peoples through trade, navigation and the exchange of knowledge.
This remarkable writing instrument pays tribute to Amalfi’s extraordinary legacy through a powerful combination of historical symbolism, architectural beauty and Italian craftsmanship. Crafted in antiqued brass, deep-blue acrylic resin, enamel and a natural sapphire, Amalfi is a collector’s piece designed to honour one of the most influential cities in Mediterranean history. Inspired by the architectural splendour of the Cathedral of Saint Andrew and the celebrated Cloister of Paradise, the cap is enveloped in an intricate lost-wax casting that recreates Amalfi’s distinctive Arab-Norman arches and geometric decorations in extraordinary detail. On the barrel, a three-dimensional representation of the Italian peninsula emerges from a sea of blue acrylic resin. A natural sapphire marks the location of Amalfi, celebrating the city that helped transform the Mediterranean into one of history’s greatest networks of commerce, ideas and cultural exchange.
Beneath the Amalfitan Cross that crowns the cap lies one of the collection’s most surprising features: a fully functional compass concealed beneath the top disc. A tribute to Amalfi’s seafaring heritage and enduring spirit of exploration, it recalls the navigators who looked beyond the horizon in search of new routes and opportunities. This exclusive collection is available in only 95 fountain pens and 95 rollerballs, individually numbered in Roman numerals. The edition size pays tribute to 958 AD, traditionally associated with the election of the first Doge of the Republic of Amalfi. Each writing instrument is presented in a premium display case. Collectors will also have the opportunity to acquire a dedicated presentation case designed to house the complete Maritime Republics series as future editions –Venice, Pisa and Genoa – are released.
