INTRODUCING THE MONTEGRAPPA LUCHA LIBRE

Introducing the Lucha Libre, a new Limited Edition inspired by the legendary universe of masks, spectacle and identity that has captivated audiences around the world. More than a sporting contest, Lucha Libre is a celebration of character and transformation. Beneath the lights of the arena, larger-than-life personalities emerge through symbols, rituals and storytelling, creating a visual language that has transcended its origins to become a global cultural phenomenon. With this new collection, Montegrappa translates that language into a writing instrument of remarkable presence and personality.

At the heart of the design stands the luchador’s mask. More than a costume, it is a symbol of identity, mystery, and transformation, the defining element of a tradition in which ordinary individuals become legends. A large enamelled mask dominates the barrel, enhanced by translucent enamels that reveal the guilloché engraving beneath and create remarkable depth, movement, and visual richness. On the reverse side, the mask reappears in a second interpretation sculpted in sterling silver. The LUCHA LIBRE lettering, raised flame motifs and a rich architecture of textured surfaces transform the metal into a tribute to the character, spectacle and enduring appeal that have made the discipline a global cultural phenomenon.

The champion’s belt is reinterpreted through finely engraved details enhanced by yellow gold 3N plating, paying tribute to the ultimate symbol of achievement and recognition. Three-dimensional ring ropes wrap around the barrel, creating a dynamic architectural framework that evokes the arena itself. Vivid red resin, sterling silver and hand-finished enamel create a striking contrast of colour and texture, while the fountain pen features an 18K gold nib engraved with the luchador mask and a piston-filling system.

Designed as an extension of the narrative, the exclusive presentation box reimagines the wrestling ring itself. Transforming every unveiling into an entrance into the arena, it completes a collector’s experience conceived around spectacle, character and legend.

Available in 96 fountain pens and 96 rollerballs, the edition number pays tribute to 1996, the year widely regarded as a turning point in the international rise of modern Lucha Libre, when its masked heroes began captivating audiences far beyond their homeland and helped establish the art form as a global cultural phenomenon.
